Hedgehog Fibres
No Hedgehogs were harmed in the making of these yarns. The name actually comes from founder Beata Jezek’s last name, which in Slovakian means “hedgehog.” When Beata moved to Ireland from Bratislava, Slovakia and founded the company in her kitchen in 2008. Eventually Hedgehog Fibers moved into a custom-fitted studio in Cork where the company uses non-toxic dyes with a focus on sustainability and zero waste. Their fibers are sourced from South American producers who meet high labor standards and careful consideration for animal welfare these hand-dyed fibers. Animal welfare is so important to the company that they contribute to a local dog shelter and a few members of the yarn team also foster dogs.
