Urth Yarns

Urth Yarns is a family-owned business based in southeastern Turkey that employs as many local women as possible to skillfully hand dye every skein they produce. They also hire women to test knit sample garments that show off their yarns. Urth believes that there is value in creating with one’s hands and that includes protecting the environment via sustainable clothing production. Their Harvest line of yarn is hand dyed without chemicals by using only roots, fruits, and nuts. This results in slight variations in each deep, rich, and earthy dye lot. To give back, for every skein of yarn sold, Urth plants a tree through Trees for the Future, a nonprofit whose mission is to train farmers to regenerate their land by planting thousands of trees to bring nutrients back to the soil which increases crop production.
