Videnovich Farms

Videnovich Farms is nestled in the shadow of Warren Dunes State Park in southwest Michigan and has produced Balkan heritage vegetable and fruit since the 1960s. The family also continues to raise sheep. The farm’s flock have also been there since the beginning and now number to about 50 naturally colored, mixed breed sheep - lovingly called “Michigan Mash-Ups.” The naturally colored wool from the Videnovich Farms sheep flock is shorn every spring. Every year the fleece varies in length, texture, color, and amount. Each finished yarn will have a unique “vintage” - just like wine. The fleece was carefully sorted and the best fibers selected. The sorted fleece was then sent to a regional carding mill to be washed and carded into roving and then spun by hand by Vera Videnovich.
