Laura Zander of Jimmy Beans wool was inspired to close the gap between high quality yarn and accessible pricing after a trip to visit fair trade mills in Peru. She noticed that the local women sorting the wool sorted the better “tops” for processing and there were piles of high-quality remnants left and that there were leftover fibers from yarns made in large runs. To save these fibers from landfills she asked that these wool and alpaca remnants be given a second life and blended into a new yarn and Yarn Citizen came to life.
