Kelbourne Woolens

Courtney Kelly earned a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a focus on Fiber and Materials Study and her thesis piece was a giant 6’ hand knit gansey. This likely set the stage for her to design knitwear patterns later one. Moving to Philadelphia she met Kate Gagnon Osborn while both were working in a yarn store. At that time Kate was studying and working on a master’s degree in textile design. They teamed up and started Kelbourne Woolens in 2008 and were designing patterns for yarns they were distributing made by other brands. By 2017 they put their efforts into their own line of yarn with a focus on craftsmanship and sustainability. If you’re ever in Philly you can check out their retail location at 231 W. Mt Pleasant Ave.
